Wedged between the Shannon Estuary and the Atlantic, the traditions
and culture of West Clare are woven from a life of seafaring.
Experience dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, Victorianesque holiday
resorts and old-world fishing villages alive with traditional music.
A myriad of activities are on offer; sea angling, coarse and game
fishing, golfing, dolphin watching, walking, cycling, diving,
canoeing and touring around the Loop Head Penninsula.
Local attractions include the "Kilrush in Landlord Times" exhibition
and the Scattery Island Visitor Center, both in the town of Kilrush
as well as the Little Ark in Kilbaha and Kilkee Waterworld.
There are two lively summertime festivals in Kilrush: The Shannon Dolphin Festival and
Éigse Mrs. Crotty, a tradtional music weekend.
The Willie Clancy International Summer School in Miltown Malbay brings the
masters of Irish music to the region to share their expertise with all.
